Our mission is to transfer MIMOS-developed technology platforms among indigenous industries and enable the integration of our technology platforms into these industries’ existing product lines and/or further develop the technology verticals to create new products.

Grid Computing Platform Ver 3.0
With Grid Computing as one of MIMOS’ strategic focus areas, MIMOS will perform R&D to realise the infrastructure of the future that supports the national aspiration of becoming an innovation-based nation where IT services are offered within the grid technology environment and hardware and software are secondary to the service.

Financial Services

There is a need to analyse greatly increasing amounts of market data. Investment decisions must be made quickly. As an example, the ability to show differing future projections by varying the assumptions can be a very powerful tool to assist decision making.

Media/Animation

Vast computing resourses are needed to support the ever growing demand of the entertainment industry. Animation houses’ focus is creating content. In order to realise their content they need huge computing resourses for rendering. MIMOS’ Grid technology is the perfect platform to use.

Government

Grid technologies have the capabilities to distribute computing and data resources across multiple facilities within an organisation or enterprise. The government is one of the biggest organisation that can take advantage of this technology. Industrial knowledge can be shared, scientific discoveries can be accelerated, information can be properly channelled and various transactions can be done where overall progress of the country and the wellbeing of its citizen shall improve.

Health Care

Improved health screening, diagnostics as well as access to medical data including but not limited to image databases will fuel the efficiency of the healtcare sector. The Grid shall empower medical practioner with collaborative working mechanisms. These will in turn enable consultants to reach consensus on diagnosis much quicker thus speeding patient care and reducing costly delays and subsequent resource occupancy.

System / Solution :

Data Grid

Data grid provides data categorisation, information searching, ontology, knowledge management and discovery functionalities. In this infrastructure, data is categorised and included with technology that facilitate processing, analysis and understanding.

Compute Grid

The critical parameter in Compute Grid is the amount of aggregated computing power allocated for CPU intensive applications. The infrastructure is built around this requirement.

Agri Grid

This is an example of Grid application whereby real-time processing of data collected from physically dispersed locations is combined, managed and used. Data can include those that is collected from remote sensors.

Network Virtual Trusted Platform Module
NBvTPMr1.0

NBvTPMv1.0 is a client-based platform that offers hardening of a computer with MIMOS pre-built security layer over Linux operating system. Hardening of computer is an important step to protect and conceal data and information that locally resides in a computer. This technology works exactly by eliminating means of attack on the hardware. One key feature is integrity measurement audit (IMA) which allows hashed values be stored in Platform Counter Registers (PCR). The hash values are used to protect devices in the computer such as hard disk, memory etc. PCR is configured at initial boot-up and used to monitor unauthorised changes made to the computer operating system throughout its usage. Another feature is the remote attestation message protocol which allows connecting server to check the current PCR value of the client PC at online real-time and validate the integrity of the computer. Overall, the advantage of the technology is that it enables securing of core business applications from unauthorized tamper especially for government and enterprises market.

NBvTPMr2.0

NBvTPMv2.0 is a cloud-based platform that offers hardening of virtualised clients in cloud computing. The same principles and features apply in release 1.0 except that the integration is now implemented at web browser level namely Firefox.

Micro Electro Mechanical System (MEMS) Sensor Platform & MEMS Sensing, Control, Access and Networking (MSCAN) Platform
The minituarised, integrated, robust and highly accurate MEMS Sensor is able to collect various in-field data including ambient and soil temperature, humidity, soil moisture, pH and macronutrients. This data is relayed through Wireless Sensor Network technologies and displayed on the computer or mobile device, allowing the farm manager to monitor the crops from virtually anywhere in the world. The semantic platform then enables Decision Support System (DSS) that provides vital information such as weather forecast, diseases analysis, and current market prices. Combination of these technology platforms feature an intelligent farming management in real time monitoring, which means that farm managers now have total control of the crops and able to make fast and reliable decision for the best of their interest.

Technology Application:

MEMS Sensors and MSCAN platforms offer enormous opportunities of technology application for different verticals such as open plantations, controlled environment farming, aquaculture, livestock and environmental monitoring.

Open Plantations & Controlled Environment Farming

It could serve virtually all plantations and commodities sector including palm oil, rubber, cocoa, pepper, tobacco, kenaf and floriculture. Using the same technology, it could also increase productivity of food production including fruits and vegetables, paddy, cash crops and herbs industries.

Aquaculture, Livestock & Environmental Monitoring

With minor modification and customisation on system packaging to suit various applications, plus introduction of new MEMS sensors parameters, these technologies will then capable to expand into more verticals such as aquaculture, livestock and environmental monitoring, replicating the same benefits of higher productivity to these sectors.

System/ Solution:

MIMOS has produced two key solutions based on these technologies. First solution is the conversion of tacit to explicit knowledge for higher production yield and reducing manual activities in the plantations. Second solution focuses on development of Greenhouse Management System (GMS) for remote and accurate monitoring of microclimate, soil condition and crop parameters in a controlled environment. Both solutions feature knowledge and Decision Support System built on MIMOS semantic technology, offering crops variability for strategic farming planning and implementation.

MEMS Sensor and MSCAN platforms are recognised globally and has received several major awards including Frost & Sullivan’s Growth Excellence Award 2007 for Industry Innovation & Advancement (Precision Agriculture), Malaysia Innovative Product Award ITEX ’09 and Malaysia Good Design Mark Awards 2008 for Agriculture Data Collector.

WiWi Gen 1 Series
WiWi Gen 1 Series (CPE) offers a hybrid network approach by implementing open architecture to support any compatible off the shelf Wimax (Backhaul) and WiFi (Access) module. The unique approach offers significant reduction of OPEX and CAPEX whilst maintaining high degree of interoperability and interworking without compromising performance.

    • State of the art Multicasting (SSM) for efficient real-time and non real-time IP streaming
    • Seamless mobility using Mobile IP (MIPv6) while maintaining extremely low latency
Intelligent Surveillance Platform (ISP)
Intelligent Surveillance Platform is an image acquisition, video processing intelligence and image display management all in one platform. It offers a flexible and open system that can be adopted by various applications to run on top of it. Various types of image acquisition methods such as IP video camera, digital camera and thermal camera are compatible with it. The image then will be send further upstream for video processing, where the intelligence of the system resides. Various video processing techniques can be applied to the acquired images such as motion tracking, behavioral analytics, video analytics and panoramic imaging. These video processing applications are plugged into the platform in a modular way and runs independently from each process. After the video processing is done, the image then will be sent to the video display management software module. MIMOS ISP has several unique video display management features such as dynamic floating windows, 3D visualization and intuitive navigational modeling. All these indigenous video display management features shall benefit end users by providing a total situational awareness at the command centre or the control room.
